London needs some great attractions in the CORE of the city -bring excitement to residents & tourism
Major cities that have excitement to them have something that people want to see - attractions that entertain and educate while providing a fun escape from mundane every day life.
I think that it would be great if London brought something exciting to the core like an aquarium, a museum, a natural science center, solarium, observatory, botanical garden, a conservatory, an "actual" art museum, etc.
Think of all of the cities that people flock to - they have something to see and do while there. What does London have besides the JLC and the Grand? Not much else.

All good points - what may be missing is a character, an identity, based on our history. Who's got the knowledge and ability to look into our history and find out what makes us distinctive and something we can all relate to. I still think unique boutique style arts shops that are small and truly local is far more appealing than a museum or large organization. We need variety that shows the diversity of our communities and how they express their cultures - and to pay for it they can sell their creations. We also need areas where people can just wander and enjoy each other's company amid clean green features.

Well they did have a group years ago that wanted to set up the old Capitol Theatre as a performing arts centre and the city hall made sure that didn't happen. They wanted all their money to go into the arena and what's making that place viable - the music and arts performance. Then they thought it was a great place for IMAX, which it was, but the Western Fair got IMAX which is no longer in operation because it was placed in a very obscure location. All this city wants is to spend money on sports venues. The attraction of something other than sports is foreign to them and they have no understanding that arts brings in lots of money overall.

Hey Steph, the attractions you listed are not major attractions. We know this because they attract very few people. Gina is talking about a major attraction that brings many, many people to London.

Museum London? Eldon House? Harris Park? Victoria Park? Springbank Park? Storybook Gardens? The Splashpad downtown? Countless woods with paths to walk through?
Victoria Park has some sort of event going on almost every weekend in the summer, Harris Park does many festivals as well. You just need to get out and see them!
