Public Naturist/Nudist Beach or Resort Within City Limits
Since London is so culturally diverse, there is one culture that seems to not be talked about very often in the mainstream media, yet there are more and more men, women and young children practising it every day and that is the so-called Naturist and Nudist culture.
Although there are still many people not comfortable with the idea of going naked in public, there is an ever-so-increasing number of Londoners alone that have broken through their fear of their own self image along with the barriers of sexual repression and live as clothes-free as ever! It is these people that should be considered--especially by governments and law enforcement--both at all levels.
So far, there are only few known public resorts that exist for this culture such as Forest City Family Naturists (which is a members-only group), Four Seasons Resort in Freelton, ON, the Port Burwell nude beach (west of the main beach) and the most popular Hanlans Beach in Toronto on the Toronto Islands.
Since there is no such public resort in London, what I suggest is a naturist, nudist or even a clothing-optional "retreat" of some kind be allocated openly either (a) along the banks of the Thames River--preferrably in or around the Fanshawe Conservation Area or (b) inside part of (or maybe even all of) a public park.

What I am saying is, if there are no regulations preventing you and your friends from doing this, just do it. I am sure the others (no I haven't been) were inhabited first before the city (area) even knew it was there. If you are willing to pay $5 (w/e) then start a club, get donations and buy a garbage can, volley ball net and have at it.
If three are regulations preventing such a thing, then THAT is worth try to change and I will back you 100%. I am very pro choice. All is good as long as nobody gets hurt. -

I think you'll be surprised at how many people something like this can attract!
By the way, such a location does not have to be all-too-fancy and it certainly does not have to be in an area that is too public along the Thames. Also, all that I was looking for is at least a simple idea of basically allocating and existing stretch of beach along Fanshawe Lake, for example. Even just 200m-300m is good enough.
Have you been to or heard of Hanlan's Beach in Toronto? It is a very simple stretch of beach with no expensive facilities--just a volleyball area and, occasionally, mobile food stands.
A simple stretch of beach like this would also not cost the city a whole lot of tax dollars. And if I would be reqiured to pay a small daily fee of, let's say, $5/day, which is what many public-use swimming pools charge, that's fine by me!

Do you think this will attract most Londoners? Is it something the City needs to be involved in. I am all for personal freedoms and would stand up if the City was making laws preventing this, but I cannot see spending tax dollars on it.
Last I was aware, women going topless was legal in Ontario. Last I saw of bikini bottom styles left little to the imagination. Sound like naturist are pretty free to be themselves as it is. I think the way about this is to stake out you space, do what you do and THEN maybe the City will spring for a sign and clean up after you.
Personally when thinking of beaching along the Thames I'd think more clothes (as in wet suit), not less clothes.
