Core reaction

Mayor Joe got it started with his Downtown Summit on April 27th, and there’s no good reason why we shouldn’t keep the conversation going. If you have a thought about the core that did not come up at the summit or you want to talk about any of the ideas that did, here’s your forum. Post it and see what others think.

  1. It's hopeless. Demolish what's left. Install billboards directing people to big box stores and shopping plazas in the burbs.

  5. This is not a suggestion of how to improve London, but could be twisted to fit. Improving CRF, which is here to help improve London, would improve the way we help improve. (or something like that)

    I may be blind but I tried to find a :HELP" section or FAQ's for Core Reaction Forum. I know it is simple to use and not like rocket science or anything (what do rocket scientists us as comparison for an easy task?)
    So here is my list of questions about CRF:

    What does the Karma rating mean and how do you figure it?

  7. Use tax incentives or municipal funding to encourage restorations in the downtown. We are making some good progress on this, but need to do more to get more of these buildings into full use

  9. My moving the social services to another accessible location, cheque cashing, pawn brokers, drug dealers,and loiterers will follow suit. Even if the lease isn't up why couldn't they replace the space with another city hall department...like tax collection?? If city hall needs more temporary space they should seriously consider this transition. Who's brilliant idea was it to put the social services office there in the first place??? Idiots!!

  13. Driving downtown especially in rush hour is ridiculous with all of the installed parking meters making right hand turns almost impossible until a light changes.

  14. Remember the downtown mews, or the galleria mall? Many stores left for the 2 major malls. Significantly lowering taxes for those businesses that operate within the downtown may not be fair (or even legal?), but it sure would make store owner think about relocating there.

  15. The city needs to take over most of the parking lots. It will control the prices for it does not skyrocket for special events, and maybe even have free parking in December in the lots and not only the the limited on street parking.

  16. Why don't people go downtown to shop? Because all the popular stores we like to shop at are in big box parking lot malls. Bring in some big name retailers, and have them build their layout vertically like Kingsmills does instead of sprawling out. Or at least smaller retailers that sell the same things - electronics, affordable home furnishings, affordable stylish clothing...

  17. Downtown London right now is a lost cause. Gutt the whole thing. Google Celebration, Florida...this is what our city needs. Beautiful bright colours. No loitering, clean, friendly. Lots of little shops and food places. Downtown needs a HUGE overhaul!

  18. Get rid of the graffiti; renovate or tear down old/abandoned buildings; ban sex shops and stores selling drug paraphernalia;

    If we want our downtown to flourish, we must make it look appealing.

  20. Remove the fake metal trees from the Downtown area, this is supposed to be the Forest City, more REAL trees would be nice, besides the fake ones are unsightly, in my opinion... embarrassing
