Allow Buskers Downtown and Take Away Red Tape for Small Entrepreneurs
Make it easier for someone who wants to start a sidewalk business. Take away all the rules and regulations associated with trying to start a simple business. Encourage micro business so people can take control of themselves easier.

Having lived in a major city with small businesses taking over the streets I would hate to see it happen here. Build an indoor/outdoor facility where small or micro businesses can set up and sell goods to customers. That way it can be properly managed whilst giving people an opportunity to make money.

I agree with the sentiment. Of course a city needs rules and bylaws, but can we relax them a bit. Love the idea of a pedestrian-only section of downtown roads. Cafes spilling into street, buskers entertaining passers by with music and stunts. I miss those drummers who used to rock the street lights at the corner of Dundas and Yonge Street in Toronto. . . .

Richmond and dt sidewalks are congested enough with bicycles and pedestrians, let alone filling em up with more things.

I agree with getting rid of all these rules, aside from any applicable health regulations. I have traveled to many cities in North and Central America and London's lack of sidewalk businesses is one thing that strikes me about London. It would go a long way to creating some identity for the city.

I do agree with allowing buskers though, I didn't know that wasn't allowed. I see them from time to time.

How can you just take away all of the rules? There need to be some sort of regulations in order to keep these things under control. What if this is a business selling food? Do you really want to buy food from someone who doesn't have to follow any rules or regulations regarding their product? My guess is no.
