Encourage 'big box' stores to set up shop
Why don't people go downtown to shop? Because all the popular stores we like to shop at are in big box parking lot malls. Bring in some big name retailers, and have them build their layout vertically like Kingsmills does instead of sprawling out. Or at least smaller retailers that sell the same things - electronics, affordable home furnishings, affordable stylish clothing...

Yes, let's all be the same and shop at all of the same stores.
The shops downtown are AWESOME! Have you ever been to Weezy? Commander Salamander? Frilly Lizard? Ten Thousand Villages? Most downtown shops are independently owned which means that they put THOUGHT and CREATIVITY into their product. Old Navy and The Gap don't do that.

this would create a logistical nightmare. the traffic lights are rarely sync'd and it would exacerbate the traffic jams the trains already cause, which in turn would lead to more idling cars and way more pollution. 2 thumbs down.

We dont need big box stores in the downtown. What we need are small businesses with unique atmosphere and products.

And where would you have people park? There's not enough parking as it is right now. Big box stores like Wally World or Costco are better off not being downtown. What they need to do is have shops to cater to people that live in the area. They're better off with that instead of trying to bring people in from other parts of the city.

What a terrible idea. We need more big box stores in this town?

OOOOOOOH GOD NOOOOOOOOOOO! This is the last thing you want in your downtown. The days of The Bay, Eatons, Simpon stores being anchors is over. Big box stores such as Wal Crap, Target and the likes mark the final end to a downtown area. Read the evidence all over the US where just this thing has been tried. Look at downtown Chatham-tore down small bizs, put up mall, added Sears and tadaaa- downtown is void of life and businesses and the mall is toast too. Big box stores add negative value to your city, no matter where they set up, and if you want to destroy any downtown zone- just add Wal Crap and stir.....
