  1. Since London is so culturally diverse, there is one culture that seems to not be talked about very often in the mainstream media, yet there are more and more men, women and young children practising it every day and that is the so-called Naturist and Nudist culture.

Although there are still many people not comfortable with the idea of going naked in public, there is an ever-so-increasing number of Londoners alone that have broken through their fear of their own self image along with the barriers of sexual repression and live as clothes-free as ever! It is these people that…

  2. Once the snow melts we need to get crews in to clean up the garbage that has been hidden under the snow. Westminster ponds is filthy right now. Wellington from Southdale to downtown is disgusting. Downtown London looks as though it was cleaned up quickly, but what about the rest of the "forest city" ???

I would gladly volunteer to help clean this up and I think that others should as well.

  3. london needs to do something with the traffic lights, maybe synchronize them? that could help people running red lights, help traffic flow, and gas use. Maybe more over/under passes for trains, 20 minutes for a train at 5 pm is terrible.

  5. London needs some vast improvement; I think we can all agree on this. So these are just some of my thoughts about improving London. Some of these ideas have come from talking to others, reading these threads, and some of my own thinking. So just to state I do not take ownership of any of these ideas...

    1. Develop a free-way. London has some of the worst trafic jams and congestion of any city. Whoever planned out the roadways did a terrible job. A free-way would alow for greater movement, bringing people to other parts of the city they normaly wouldnt…

  6. London needs to develop its riverfront. It cannot be just parks, bike/walking paths, and playgrounds. It needs restaurants, artisans, a night life. A place where people want to hang out. People of all ages. A place to share ideas and lives. Keep big business away. The more "little" people there are, the better, as these are the people that will truly keep the place vibrant because they will care most about its future.

  7. I believe if anyone labels an entire urban area, a place with a population greater than 350,000, dull and boring, the person is revealing themselves as dull and boring.

  9. How about something that reports the REAL news and not just what's decided by the owners and politicians. Pick up a Scene magazine or even a METRO to see how it's done. Not by having a skewed view and appealing to people in power, but actually a newspaper for the citizens of this town. Who's London?? Trying to put a spin on this city with it's constant construction, stupid metallic trees, spendthrift politicians and outdated traffic light system? Forget it!

  10. Why is it that in DT London, where we are supposed to be promoting local shops and restaurants, a Jack Astors has just opened up on the corner of Richmond and Central? What's worse than that? Apparently right across the street where Mongolian Grill used to be, a Boston Pizza is opening up.

So while independent business owners are struggling to provide good service and keep business, these corporate chains are just laughing.

    How is that fair?

  11. London has lost it's appeal in many ways. The atmosphere, the activities and the people are not quite as friendly. London has become rough around the edges. Population has risen and we've become crowded and congested. Life is tough enough, bring the spunk back to London and restore people's faith in our city.

  12. The petting farm set up during the fair is always packed. So why not set one up for weekends because what children or family doesnt enjoy interacting and seeing farm animals. It can also be used to display the farming/agricultural industry from around London/Middlesex county...

  14. City Hall needs to change the main focus of UWO's research and development toward local ventures instead of international. More than just "encourage" linkages between London businesses and UWO, Ivey and local hospitals, it's time to convince them of who is paying a large portion of the bills. London industry deserves to be first the list of potential partners, not the last resort. This idea will be received with shock and awe!

  16. The same people are always loitering around the D&R area everyday. They are loud, rude, visibly dealing drugs and they make the area feel scary and unsafe.

I don't have any great ideas on how to fix the problem but I was hoping to get a conversation started.

One of my ideas would be to change some of the bus routes so that there aren't so many busses running through. Just change the route by one block so it's not a long walk for people to the next stop, but enough to get them moving out of the same congested…

  17. The Thames is at the heart (literally, figuratively and historically) of London. We need to protect and utilize this asset. Many people are instinctively drawn to the water. Imagine reclaiming unattractive/industrial riverfront land and creating a boardwalk of sorts, featuring small businesses that get Londoners and out and about (downtown and elsewhere), support festivals, etc. This would be done in conjunction with protecting and preserving the beautiful natural areas that surround the Thames and cleaning the water in the Thames.

    Our river is our identity.

  19. Bring back Gus Macker & the rest of the festivals which brought people pouring into Downtown from places as far as Ohio. Bring back some rock concerts, some excitement... everything we lost to a conservative mentality. This city is very car oriented, so parking is a given. Without it downtown will suffer... Mr. Farhi didn't get as much success as he has achieved by being an idiot regarding property, business and the overall basics of what fills his commercial space. Also, build some wider roads/expressways... anyone who has seen Wellington at 5pm would think this was Los Angeles.... just ridiculous,…

  20. Major cities that have excitement to them have something that people want to see - attractions that entertain and educate while providing a fun escape from mundane every day life.

I think that it would be great if London brought something exciting to the core like an aquarium, a museum, a natural science center, solarium, observatory, botanical garden, a conservatory, an "actual" art museum, etc.

Think of all of the cities that people flock to - they have something to see and do while there. What does London have besides the JLC and the Grand? Not much else.
